background

Vein Center of Orange County is the premier vein disorder center in Southern California specializing exclusively in the diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of vein disease.

Dr. Alan Kanter is a pioneer in the treatment of vein disorders. Since 1990 he has dedicated his practice exclusively to Phlebology and does not offer unrelated procedures such as Botox injections, liposuction, hair removal, etc. VCOC is proud to have been the first devoted vein center in Southern California to introduce the following major advances:

In addition, our most recent major advance (January, 2009) is the introduction of the new ELVeS® PL 1470 laser. We are proud to be the first O.C. facility to offer this "second generation" gentle laser which provides proven excellent results with less discomfort.

Dr. Kanter is board certified by the American Board of Phlebology (2008), and is also certified as a Registered Vascular Tech (RVT) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (2008). This means Dr. Kanter is eminently qualified to perform both diagnostic ultrasound mapping and guided treatment, enabling him to complete each patient's course of therapy from beginning to end.

Although your own personal physician's referral is a good starting point, Internet browsing can be useful in choosing a specialist. During the course of your comparison, observe closely for a doctor's qualifications and experience, such as:

  • phlebology board certification
  • acp fellow
  • local and international recognition
  • rvt (ultrasound) credential
  • american venus forum (AVF) member
  • author of medical journal publications

Dr. Kanter's achievements are summarized in About Dr. Kanter. Please explore our web site to learn more about the services we offer at our center in Irvine, California. Or, if you prefer to view a brief summary, you may download our VCOC brochure.

We also suggest you read what the largest professional society devoted to venous disorders in the U.S. has to say; click here to visit the ACP. Dr. Kanter was one of several prominent physicians who contributed to the recently updated on-line patient brochure you will find at the ACP web site, and was granted the honor of ACP "Fellow" membership status in 2004 for his contributions to the field of Phlebology.
